Do you pay your kids for good grades?
The aver­age child in the United States is paid $65 per month in allowance – or $780 a year – a sur­vey by the Amer­i­can Insti­tute of Cer­ti­fied Pub­lic Accoun­tants shows. The poll found 61% of par­ents pay an allowance to their chil­dren. Among the par­ents who pay, 54% said they start dol­ing out cash when their chil­dren reach the age of 8. About 48% said they pay extra when their chil­dren earn good school grades. The aver­age rate for an A is $16.60. The sur­vey found allowances come with strings – 89% of par­ents said they expect at least an hour’s worth of chores per week, although the aver­age num­ber of chore hours was 6.2.
