Sayin' "Cheese" for Muttnation

Miranda Lambert is posing for a good cause, and hopes shoppers at her new Oklahoma store, Pink Pistol, will donate to her Muttnation Foundation. The singer tells Country Weekly, that she is “constantly moving merchandise and working the soda foundation,” at her and typically gets asked for a picture. “It’d go crazy” if she did that for everybody, so instead she asks for a $100 donation to raise money for her organization. The Muttnation Foundation helps animal shelters nationwide in hopes that no-kill shelters will disappear. So far Miranda has raised $2,500 just by saying, “Cheese.” She just doesn’t “want the perception of people thinking [she’s] charging money for photos.” It’s all for the animals!

Also, Miranda new single “Mama’s Broken Heart” almost wasn’t her single at all. ACM New Female Vocalist nominee Kacey Musgraves co-penned the song and nearly snatched it for her debut album. “I had to beg for that song because Kacey got signed to a record deal,” Miranda says, “and it was going to be one of her first songs.” In the end, Kacey, who’s also written for Martina McBride, released “Merry Go ‘Round” as her first single and gave “Mama’s Broken Heart” to Miranda. Kacey’s debut album drops in March.
