Car­rie Under­wood has com­mented on remarks she made ear­lier this month regard­ing gay mar­riage in an inter­view with a British news­pa­per. The “Good Girl” singer told The Inde­pen­dent that her church is “gay friendly” and added, “I def­i­nitely think we should all have the right to love, and love pub­licly, the peo­ple that we want to love.” Now, she tells the Asso­ci­ated Press, “I was asked a dif­fi­cult ques­tion in the last five min­utes of an inter­view and I answered the best way I knew how.” She says, “I gen­er­ally try to stay out of any kind of con­tro­versy,” and admits she’s avoided read­ing most of the reac­tions to her com­ments online. After per­form­ing in Lon­don yes­ter­day, Car­rie now heads Down Under for a week of con­certs in Australia.
