Five-year-old Ava Schipke wanted three things for her birth­day: a Bar­bie mer­maid doll, a Doc McStuffins doc­tor kit and a phone call from Jake Owen. Thanks to Twit­ter, she got all three. The Tupelo, Mis­sis­sippi, pre-schooler’s mother, Kristy, tweeted about her daughter’s dis­ap­point­ing day Tues­day. “Today my daugh­ter Ava turned 5. Found her cry­ing and I asked why. She said her boyfriend @jakeowen for­got to call her,” she said. Schipke said she told her lit­tle girl that she should expect a call from grandma, but that Ava “was more con­cerned that her boyfriend Jake Owen had not called her.” But Owen saw the tweet – and he called. “And now the bar is set high for Christ­mas, because after he called her for her birth­day, she wants to see him at Christ­mas,” Mom laughed.
