Keith Urban will sit beside Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Randy John­son as they judge con­tes­tants on Sea­son 13 of Amer­i­can Idol, which pre­mieres on Jan­u­ary 16. Keith recently sat on a panel with his fel­low Idol judges and talked about why he decided to become a judge on the show this year. Urban said, “I’ve watched ‘Idol’ for a lot of years. I guess at the end of the day I love singers, I love musi­cians I love cre­ative peo­ple. You guys out there know who sing or play you’re just look­ing for a break you’re just fig­ur­ing out ‘How can I get some­one to lis­ten to what I do?’ And this show does it, on steroids.”
