“Amer­i­can Idol” win­ner Scotty McCreery says he is donat­ing pro­ceeds from a New York con­cert to help vic­tims of Hur­ri­cane Sandy. McCreery played New York’s Bea­con The­ater Fri­day and told the crowd the show was being turned into a ben­e­fit with a cut of the ticket sales going to World Vision and its Sandy relief efforts. “Being from North Car­olina, I have seen first­hand what hur­ri­canes can do,” McCreery said. “After see­ing the dev­as­ta­tion caused by Sandy, I wanted to fig­ure out a way to help.”
