A son in China was so obsessed with online gam­ing that his father decided to hire vir­tual assas­sins to kill off his son’s avatar! The father, iden­ti­fied only as Mr. Feng, was appar­ently con­cerned about the amount of time his 23-year-old unem­ployed son was spend­ing play­ing the video games. Feng’s idea was that his son would get bored of play­ing games if his char­ac­ter was killed every time he logged on – and this might make him more likely to go out and find a job. But his son even­tu­ally got wise and asked one of the gamers why they kept tar­get­ing him. He then con­fronted his father, telling him, “I can play or I can­not play, it doesn’t bother me. I’m not look­ing for any job—I want to take some time to find one that suits me.”
